We’ve finally got our apartment in Melbourne sorted with the basics (internet, chairs, tv, sofa…) but now comes the fun bit of decorating. As we’ve already spent a bit, we’re going to build it up slowly. I always seem to pin open kitchen shelves – I love the personality that they bring to a kitchen. Whether they are a display of pure white ceramics, a mishmash of cookery books and rustic wooden spoons, or some beautiful Anthro bowls. They give you the chance to do a bit of styling in the kitchen!
Most of our cupboards are really high up so we’re putting things that we need to reach easily on the open shelf we have running through our kitchen (read: wine glasses). However I’m slowly growing a collection of lovely jars/bowls which I want to use to add some character to our otherwise white kitchen. What do you think? Are you a fan or are you more of a sleek, minimalist kitchen type?

March 10, 2015 at 1:29 pmI'm so in love with open shelving. But then I remember my cabinet are a mess and I'm too clumsy to handle open shelves, haha. But a girl can dream. 🙂

March 10, 2015 at 2:04 pmI love the idea of open shelving. We have just bought a house and we are completely gutting it and starting from scratch. We have actually just ordered a new kitchen which is exciting. I can't wait to start decorating teh place and turning it into a home although it is a little overwhelming at times. x

March 10, 2015 at 2:46 pmI definitely like the sleek minimalist look, but I have a real soft spot for open shelving. I think they make a room look so homely and I love that lived-in look. xo
P.S. thank you for commenting on my blog, I'm so happy to have discovered yours now! xxx

March 10, 2015 at 4:50 pmI like both. In our cape town house we had part open shelves and part cupboards. For a while, on the open shelves, we kept our tins of beans, soup and tuna stacked, as we like the idea of it being an homage to Andy Warhol. 🙂
