Happy Mother’s Day

I know Mother’s Day in the UK is a couple of days off, but I thought I’d do an early post. There are a few things I’ve already inherited from my Mum, a few being our love for truffles (the chocolate kind as well as the fungus kind), a fear of heights, and a knack for keeping things shipshape. But there are many more things I’d love to learn from her so I thought I’d list a few reasons why my Mum is pretty darn fantastic, and why I am so grateful to have her.
1/ Whether it was my brother at the age of 5 falling into yet another stagnant river/pond/cow’s trough (yes, all of those things happened) or our weeklong Playmobil world extending into a third room into the house, my Mum has always had endless patience.

2/ She might have the odd glass of Pimms in the Summer but she doesn’t need a drop of alcohol to be the first person grooving away on the dance floor.

3/ My mum is pretty much Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. Fact. Singing is how she woke us up in the morning, and how she got three kidlets to trudge for miles and miles on many walking trips up mountains and along coasts.

4/ Before having us three kids, my Mum was a fulltime cook and that makes us kind of the luckiest children.

5/ She is the best friend. She is always there for her girlfriends on the phone and in person. She has helped people through the hardest times, and even now when I’m living 1000s of miles away in Australia I feel like she’s always right there for me on the other side of Whatsapp 😉

Above: My cool-ass parents dressed as Madonna and Rambo back in the ’80s.

I love you so much Mumsi! Hoping the other sibs make you extra pancakes on Sunday morning from me xx

Tell me about your Mums! And if you fancy a 3 or 4 day break with her, Parkdean are running a fabulous comp over hereeee… wouldn’t that be just the greatest surprise pressie on Mother’s Day?
