Every time I move house (or more realistically, flat), I start thinking about how I’m going to decorate it before I even get there. Recently I’ve developed an obsession with velvet for both clothes and interiors. It’s always something that’s slightly given me the heebie-jeebies from the way it brushes in different directions, but I’m loving the luxe look right now.
My favourite tones for the season are deep emerald, blush pink, deep teal-navy, and ochre. Mixing with textures like heavy natural linen, fringing, and embroidery gives such a gorgeous contrast. I love how all these images feature velvet in heavy jewel-like colours, placed on lighter fabrics to freshen them up and keep them modern.
I’ve moved 5 times in 3 years now and I’m almost done with moving. I’m looking forward to collecting some beautiful things that will be in my home for a while. Whilst where we’re staying is temporary when we first move to London, I’m loving the idea of making the space feel like mine by mixing in some new cushions and pieces of art. What do you think of velvet? I feel like it’s definitely a love or hate thing!
Here are some pieces I am lusting over right now to get the look…

January 15, 2017 at 12:08 pmOoh I’ve never really considered velvet for the home, but actually I really love it! I’m the same I’m always making mental notes of things I want for my hypothetical dream home 🙂
