WEEKEND

So this was supposed to be posted after the weekend, but this week has been super busy and life got in the way. One of my resolutions is to take my camera out and about more, so that’s what I did. Consequently, most of my weekend seemed to revolve around food, but hey it’s January and Winter is for eating.
I ended up going out on Friday as a good friend from uni moved to London (whoop!) and Saturday was mainly spent curled up on the sofa by the fairy lights and watching Silence of the Lambs. I am a massive horror movie fan.
Sunday was lovely and sunny and so Alex and I wandered on down to Notting Hill to try out Jamie Oliver’s cafe/ cooking school Recipease.
Since I was diagnosed as a coeliac a couple of months ago, eating out has not been the same. Hence my rather simple yogurt and berries, being the only thing I could have on the menu. I was majorly envious of Alex’s avocado, chillies, and bacon on toast. It was fun to watch the cooking students kneading away as the lessons are right in the middle of the room.
And to make up for the measly breakfast, I treated myself to a peanut butter milkshake – diiiivine.
In the afternoon I met my mum for a wander down the King’s Road and to nip into a place I’d heard about and wanted to try – The Good Life Eatery. I really recommend it and can’t wait to go back. I could actually choose almost anything from the menu as it’s mostly gluten free. We shared an extortionately priced juice (the food was not so expensive) then my mum went for the avo and I had the ‘Clean + Lean bowl’, which is quinoa with sweet potato, kale, almond pesto and poached eggs. Yum.
What did you get up to at the weekend? I can’t wait to catch up with sleep tomorrow!

Hi – I'm not coeliac but gluten does cause issues and I always suffer when I give in and eat all those lovely bready things I shouldn't…
Genius bread's OK (I like the brown spread with mashed avocado) and gluten free flour isn't great but makes decent pancakes and squidgy brownies…
    Sarah 🙂
